This is yet another unusual Columbine variety that is sure to inspire your wild garden. As its name implies, this one hails from Asia, but is quite easily transplanted to just about any region of North America. Oriental Columbine is an esoteric treasure for the flower gardener that’s looking for something out of the ordinary.

Growing Instructions:
Colorado Blue Columbine seeds have a wildflower-like hardiness and are most commonly broadcasted directly in the fall or just after the frost. Columbine seeds thrive from an over-winter Direct sow in early fall, sowing the seed just below the surface of the soil. for spring planting, mix the seed with moist sand and store it in the refrigerator for 60 days before direct sowing after the last frost. The seed can also be started indoors planting it just below the surface of a flat and kept at a temperature of 60-65 degrees until germination. Keep the soil moist. Plant in fertile, moist, well-draining soil and full sun to partial shade. This plant appreciates some shade from the midday sun and may wilt in the heat of summer if exposed to full sun.
