Growing Instructions:
Direct sow in late fall planting just below the surface of rich soil. For spring planting, mix the seeds with moist sand and store in the refrigerator for 2-4 weeks before sowing. Likes sun, moist rich soil, and can tolerate some shade. They can also be started indoors sowing on the surface of a flat and at a temp of 60-65° until germination. Transplant after the threat of frost. These plants are heavy feeders, so sidedress in spring with well-composted manure. Harvest when one quarter of the flowers are open.

Germination Group

Group 1 - Cold Stratified

These seeds require cold stratification to break dormancy and germinate successfully. Winter sowing in jugs provides the perfect natural cold treatment these varieties need. Sow outdoors in winter and let nature do the work—the freeze-thaw cycles will prepare them for spring germination.
