Description:
If you want to bring bees and other beneficial insects to your garden, start Lacy Phacelia seeds. This annual wildflower grows well in hot, harsh desert conditions, but it adapts easily to other environments. The Lacy Phacelia flower spike is light blue-violet and has bees busy all day long, and the foliage is fern-like and lacy in appearance. Give it a sunny location in the garden and water from the roots occasionally. Sprinklers can make the stems flop. Phacelia Tanacetifolia cover crop use is becoming more and more popular and is used similarly to buckwheat as a winter cover.

Planting Instructions:
Lacy phacelia seeds germinate in 15 to 30 days without treatment. Germination is inhibited by light and high and low temperatures, seeds grow when soil temperatures are between 40 and 68F. Late spring, summer and fall plantings may all be successful depending upon the location. A seeding rate of 26 pure live seeds per square foot is recommended. Seed should be planted into a firm, weed -free seedbed. It is recommended to drill the seed to a ¼ -inch depth to ensure good seed to soil contact, although broadcast seeding followed by cultivation may also be successful. Lacy Phacelia will drop its own wildflower seeds. If seedlings and spreading is not desired, deadhead spent blooms.

Germination Group

Group 2 - Hardy Annuals, Hardy Herbs, Cool Weather Vegetables

These seeds love cool temperatures and germinate readily when winter sown. While they don't require stratification, they thrive in the cold conditions of winter sowing. Sow in jugs during winter for strong, early spring seedlings that are ready to transplant when the weather warms.
